The East Central Iowa Chapter is pleased
to offer volunteer opportunities to support people affected
by Alzheimer's, their families, caregivers and friends.
Please review the following volunteer opportunities
and email Michele Cooper to express your interest.
Program Planning
Committees: Plan and implement educational and
patient service programs such as conferences, support
groups and caregiver seminars,
Support Group
Facilitator: Facilitate a support group for Alzheimer's
family members as well as specialized groups for the
early-diagnosed individual.
24/7 HELPLINE:
Serve as a resource person for family members of people
with Alzheimer's who telephone our office for assistance.
Speaker's Bureau:
Represent the Alzheimer's Association East Central
Iowa Chapter in the community by giving talks to community
groups, civic clubs and corporations,
Health Fairs:
Represent the Alzheimer's Association at health fairs
by staffing our Chapter Traveling Education Exhibit
and providing information to the public.
Office Volunteer:
Assist the office staff with various tasks including
answering telephones, filing, light typing, data entry,
preparing family packets and mailings. You also will
help with other inter- office activities as needed.
Public Policy:
Serve on the Public Policy Committee, participate
in phone trees and letter writing campaigns, grassroots
lobbying, and help raise awareness of your friends and
neighbors. Enthusiastic beginners are welcome.
Newsletter:
Help typeset and edit articles
Development:
Plan, oversee and evaluate fundraising efforts.
Memory Walk
(Annual Walk-a-Thon): Help with logistics, corporate
sponsorship, walker and team recruitment, prizes, refreshments
and volunteer coordination.
