Alzheimer's Caregiver
Telephone Support Group

The Alzheimer's Association East Central Iowa Chapter offers a Alzheimer's Caregiver Telephone Support Group. The telephone support group is similar to a community support group without the hassle of leaving your own home. Give us a call and get connected!

 

Date: 4th Wednesday each month

Time: 2:00 p.m.

About our Specialized Telephone Support Group


Before the Meeting

  • Interested participants register in advance for each month's telephone support group
  • Participants receive detailed instructions on how to access the teleconference system
  • Staff and/or volunteers place reminder calls to each participant registered to participate each month

Format of the Meeting

  • The first 15 minutes of each support group will offer new caregiver information or education followed by open discussion moderated by an experienced support group facilitator
  • Each caller has the opportunity to discuss situations and get feedback and support

What is an Alzheimer's caregiver support group?

A support group is a formal gathering of caregivers, family or friends to discuss issues relating to Alzheimer's disease.

 

An Alzheimer's Caregiver support group:

  • Creates a safe, supportive environment or community
  • Educates and informs
  • Develops methods and skills to solve problems
  • Encourages participants to maintian personal, physical and emotional health
  • Allow for personal growth and development
